Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 2026

DriveWind Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your data when you use the DriveWind Studio Chrome Extension.

1. Data Collection

We collect the following categories of data to provide the core functionality of the extension:

  • Account Information: When you sign in via Google, we collect your email address, name, and profile picture URL to authenticate you and sync your projects across devices.
  • User Content (On-Demand): To generate automation scripts, the extension accesses specific Google Workspace data only when triggered by you. This includes:
    • Google Apps Script Projects: To read/write code files.
    • Google Sheets: To analyze headers and sample rows for context-aware coding.
    • Gmail/Drive/Calendar: Metadata (e.g., file names, email subjects) is accessed only if you explicitly ask the AI to build an automation involving these services.
  • Chat History: We collect the text prompts you enter and the AI responses generated to maintain conversation history.
  • API Keys: If you provide a custom Gemini API key, we collect it for the sole purpose of making requests to the LLM on your behalf.
  • Usage Data: We collect anonymous telemetry data (e.g., “Extension Installed”, “AI Request Failed”) to improve stability.

2. Data Usage (Handling)

We use your data for the following specific purposes:

  • To Generate Code: Your prompts and relevant context (e.g., Sheet headers, Script file names) are sent to the AI model to generate the requested Google Apps Script code.
  • To Execute Automations: The extension uses your Google credentials locally within your browser to create files, update projects, and deploy web apps.
  • To Maintain State: Your project metadata and chat history are used to restore your session when you reopen the extension.

We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your data.

3. Data Storage

Local Storage:

  • Your Gemini API Key is encrypted using the Web Crypto API (AES-GCM) with a device-specific key and stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). It is never transmitted to our servers unencrypted.
  • User preferences (theme, default mode) are stored locally.

Cloud Storage (Supabase):

  • We use Supabase (a secure backend provider) to store your User Profile (email/name), Project Metadata (script IDs, titles), Chat History, and Execution Logs.
  • This data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

4. Data Sharing

We share data only with the following third-party service providers required to operate the extension:

  • Google Gemini API (LLM): Your text prompts and code context are sent to Google's Generative AI API to generate responses. Google does not use this data to train their models (per standard API terms).
  • Supabase: Used for database and backend services.
  • Google OAuth 2.0: Used for authentication.

5. Compliance with Google Limited Use Policy

DriveWind Studio's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically: We only request access to Gmail, Drive, and Sheets scopes to allow the user to build and run automations for those specific services. We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your affirmative agreement for specific messages, doing so is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, to comply with applicable law, or for the App's internal operations and even then only when the data have been aggregated and anonymized.

6. Your Rights

You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data stored on our servers by contacting us or using the “Delete Project” features within the extension. Local data can be removed by uninstalling the extension.

7. Contact Us

If you have questions about this policy, please contact us at the support page on the Chrome Web Store or through the extension.
